TikTok also gave attention to parodies of "healthy alternatives" for staple foods, like the "nature’s cereal" that Lizzo posted about in March. The annual wrap-up highlighted this year's trends, from the infamous Noodle the pug to Olympians dominating both sports and the internet. What follows is an account of what I’ve learned going from zero to 60k followers in six months.

These figures are nothing short of impressive, considering that the app was launched only as recently as 2016. Some of you might be wondering why TikTok might sound oddly similar to Musical.ly in terms of what you do within the apps. In late 2017, TikTok’s parent company ByteDance, purchased Musical.ly. As a result of the merger, TikTok had smooth access to targeting the US teenage market which previously belonged to Musical.ly.
